i was trying to remember the correct german word for the state of attitude towards others.
that witnesses often show - i believe it is "schaudenfreud" - happiness felt when observing.

thanks for your support on my thread "bad day".. it seems things don't want to get better.
sorry for moaning, but i thought i'd update you all too.... firstly i saw the dental specialist today (remember, infected wisdom tooth?).
he said (after thorough examination, xray etc).
I am so sorry to hear your news Sirona, and send you warm thoughts and wishes

hey everyone,.
i have never been a jehovah's witness, but i've dated someone who is and i have a few clients who are.. my comment and question is this, i've noticed that witnesses who aren't even active get very defensive when asked a question or a comment is made about the religion.. did any of you find yourself before you left getting this way when people asked you about the religion.. restorebeauty.
Whilst I was a JW the organisation became my family - my brothers, my sisters - and I learnt to defend them just as I would if I had a real family. Often within families it's OK for someone on the inside to say something derogative about a relative, but look out if it is an outsider making the very same remark! Suddenly the ranks close and the downgraded relative is elavated to a position they did not formerly occupy.
Such family ties run deep, and although I have been away from my former 'brothers and sisters' for some time, I still find myself defending their beliefs - even when I know they are wrong.
Coupled with this, is the knowledge that at one time I too believed what they hold to be true. I know 'where they are coming from', I understand their position.
i have always wonderd why so many people think jesus died on a cross.
ive been brought up to beleive that he died on a stake.
where did it come from about the cross?
It seems to me true, that it matters not much whether cross or stake at this point in time. It does however matter if we are being deliberately misled for sinister reasons. Question the dogmatism Watermelon, search for truth - if truth can indeed be found

i want to share since i'm new here!
i was more or less born into the jw religion and raised as one.
my mom was a pretty strict believer, but she didn't get baptized until i was 9, "surprisingly" my parents got divorced three years later.
Hi Random
I too exist here in an anonymous state, largely for the same reasons, but in reverse. My daughter and son-in-law are JWs, and they bring me mags, books, news etc (I haven't been to a meeting for 6 years). They are my only family - I cannot just walk away and desert them. That's how it would feel anyway - it's bad enough living this half life, without going all the way and encountering complete severance. At least this way I can still feed them with bits of information - and live in hope of change.
Hang on in there

Walk to the hills, pop open a can or two and chill out
one of the many teachings that troubled my conscience matthew 22:30. does this mean that after armageddon there will essentially be several different classes of people ie survivors (who may marry) and resurrected ones (who may not) and those born after armageddon (presumably who may)?
does this mean the resurrected ones will be sexless - like 'drones'?
surely then they will not be the same person that they were?
NewWay, I look forward to further posts from you. Although no longer classed a JW, neither am I bitter or angry towards my former life's course or those who still exist within it. In reality the 'truth' at one time saved me from myself - but that is another story and not for this thread. There is indeed much pain, but there are specific reasons for that, and again this is not the right time or place for such things.
I have always believed an old adage 'the biggest room in the world is the room for improvement'. Our knowledge can always be extended and improved upon - but, only if we are truly willing to listen, to learn and to change, will it be accompanied by wisdom. And wisdom is the real prize, the ability to use our knowledge to benefit ourselves and others.
take this test for yourself.
don't peek but begin the test as you scroll down and answer.
answers are for who you are now ... not who you were in the past.
Not with a beard like that.................!
Sorry about the missing #5 (e) - have deleted the answer now as I don't know what the question was. Does that make sense. Well I have just come in from work. (That's my excuse anyway)
